[Star] Card of the Week #1

I wanted to try to do a new segment where I'd mention an obscure card that can prove to be useful and give people some exposure to these cards, who knows, some of you might pick up the cards and try them out. I'll try to do this consistently every week.

First card of this series is Black Horn of Heaven

For the longest time, this card seems to get overlooked a lot. Lintleth and myself personally run this card as a one of in most of our main decks primarily because in many situations people use Solemn Warning; Black Horn of Heaven can also negate the same card for free. Although, there are some restrictions when comparing it to Solemn Warning. Solemn Warning is able to stop cards like Shaddoll Fusion and Gorz, the Emissary Darkness because these cards are non-inherent special summons which Solemn Warning is able to negate. Black Horn of Heaven can only negate inherent special summons which include, but are not limited to; Synchro Summons, Xyz Summons, and Pendulum Summons. Important note, if you activate Black Horn of Heaven when your opponent Pendulum Summons, all monsters that were Pendulum Summoned are destroyed. It can also negate summons like Photon Trasher but cannot negate cards like Kagetokage. The reason being because Photon Thrasher is an inherent summon and Kagetokage is not, I'll go over the nuance of inherent and non-inherent special summons in a different post, but for know back on point. It may not be as powerful as Solemn Warning but being able to negate Synchro, Xyz and Pendulums along with being a Spell Speed 3 card, makes it a very powerful and very overlooked card.

i have always liked the card but i am generally not a fan of stoping the opponets plays :/ im thinking of starting to use it more though

I can't wait for your post on inherent and non-inherent special summons. I've always wanted to main Black Horn of Heaven but have been hesitant to use it since I always get confused about that point.

I've actually NEVER used it myself, but looking at the review, it seems to fit a lot of my decks.
