Smash 4 Tier List [1.1.3]

This is an outdated tier list. Being that 1.1.4 is the current version of that game we are playing and this tier list is missing 2 character being Bayonetta and Corrin. Regardless, I did still want to document the first Smash 4 tier list to be made. I will update if there is a tier list for 1.1.4 when/if it's posted.

Tier lists matter in the scenario that both players are of equal skill level and are both at least experienced in some form, and even then it isn't always super clear cut since there is mental game to take into account. In the casual level of play, it wouldn't matter too much. Although faults in the characters become much more noticeable and exploitable in the higher levels of play. I wouldn't be able to give a confident answer with your question since the metagame will never be stable because of patches which involve buffs and nerfs. Smash 64, Melee and Brawl had years to develop their metagame since there is just one version. This was done in a matter of weeks so a couple of the mid-tier and low-tier can be debatable.

As far as myself, I do consider Zelda to be the worst mainly from low mobility, bad neutral game, and close to non-existent combo game. It might change in the future since Nintendo is always buffing lower tier characters, including Zelda. As far as myself goes, I'd answer yes although I'd say she can hold her own against super heavyweights like DeDeDe.

I'm surprised to see Captain be placed as highly as he is, although it might be from popularity of the character merged with a lot of advantages.

As far what I'm perplexed on, I'm perplexed to see Kirby placed in-between mid tier and low tier, I would have thought for sure Kirby would be cemented as a better mid tier, being placed near Lucario and Toon Link.

To add onto this, competitive play is primarily 1v1 (while 2v2, aka teams, does exist it is much more low key and isn't as big/popular as 1v1 is) which is what this list is based off of. So while Zelda is horrible in 1v1 competitive play, that doesn't mean she is bad in teams or in any other game mode (though other game modes, besides teams, like FFAs, aren't played in competitive play). Some characters are built more around FFAs (Zeda, many of the fatties [DDD, Ganondorf, Bowser, ect...]), more around singles (Sheik, ZSS, Sonic as some examples), and some around teams (Cloud comes to mind, Lucas or Ness or GnW paired with someone whose projectile they can absorb).

Not-relevant comment; I would love to see a tier list for doubles, and maybe even make one of my own. Although it would be much easier to start off in Smash 64 since there is the least amount of roster combinations.
