Smash 64 Tier Lists

In gaming, a tier list is a list that ranks all characters based on the strength of their fighting abilities and their potential to win matches under tournament conditions, assuming equal skill on the part of each player.

I'm going to make segments to explain the nuance of Smash Bros. even more in-depth. I know that tournament level discussion of Smash Bros. is a niche subject on MADA but I'll still continue, it's a subject I love to discuss about.

Fun Fact: Many top professional players refer to Pikachu as "Rat".

This is the first Smash 64 tier list.

Changes:

Fox being the 2nd best character. This is the only time he is marked higher than Kirby.

Ness dropping from 3 to 8. He is not a bad character at all and was considered 3rd best for a reason. Has great speed in his aerials with Double Jump Cancels and great KO power. Although as the metagame further developed, people had realized how awful his recovery is and how easily exploitable it is.

Captain going up 1 rank.

Jiggly dropping 3 ranks.

DK dropping 2 ranks.

Yoshi gaining 2 ranks.

Link and Samus swapping places.

Changes:

With the Hyrule map getting banned and Dreamland being the only legal map, Fox has become less effective in some of his match-ups and as such, Captain and Fox have switched places.

Yoshi has gained a rank. With the abundance of Yoshi mains during Apex 2015, the SmashBackRoom had a discussed about how effective Yoshi actually is and as such is higher on the tier list.

Jiggly gaining 2 ranks.

Mario dropping 2 ranks.

DK dropping 2 ranks.

Ness dropping 1 rank.

Link and Luigi dropping 1 rank

Samus gaining 4 ranks making her the highest low tier and marking Luigi as the worst character in Smash 64.

I know that this post isn't the most in-depth, but I wanted to list the changes of characters from the Smash 64 and what had influenced them to swap around their position on the tier list and metagame. I'll be making more informative posts in the future.
