The Magical Arts Duel Academy Hunger Games Begin!

Broadcasting to each and every television set in the Capital, the ever exciting reality-survival show "The Hunger Games" has finally returned for the year. As the pregame show theme comes to a close, a futuristic set comes into view with two individuals at a curved desk. On the left side is a woman with long, silver hair and pale skin, dressed mildly provocatively but in a "I'm rich" sort of way. To her right is a slightly man with short black hair, a top hat, an emerald green suit jacket with matching tie and dress gloves with a golden vest. His eyes are hidden by his large rimmed sun glasses.

"Welcome one and all," the woman begins, "to this year's Hunger Games! Sponsored by our dear friends at Magical Arts Duel Academy."

"That's right Genevieve, and what an interesting turn out this year," the man in green continues, "I'm your host, The Game Master and joining me this year is the lovely, and single, Genevieve Zeerna!"

The woman laughs and playfully smacks the Game Master's hand, "Oh stop it. You can flirt on our time off."

"How right you are. Let's get right to it then, shall we? Let's meet this years Tributes for the Hunger Games!" he excitedly turns his chair and motions to the large screen behind them.

A montage of profile shots line the screen, depicting each of the Tributes

"So who do you like this year, Gen?" The Game Master asks her after the screen finishes.

"It's hard to pick out of so many handsome young men," she waves her hand as if warm, "though I have my money riding on that Leon fellow from District 4."

"Ah, Leon Knightenstein, the Noble Warrior. One of the Tributes who chose to volunteer this year rather than be chosen," he shifts a bit, "Personally have my eye on that Lexie Roseheart from District 2. Talk about beauty and brains huh? One of the top duelists in the district, yet she's never gone beyond winning locals out of fear. I do like a shy girl."

"You like all girls."

"Point being?"

Genevieve shakes her head, "This year's Tributes are in for a special treat. Instead of the usual entrance used previously in which all the Tributes arrive in the same location, we're scattering them to various locations to up the drama!"

"The tension rises already," the Game Master comments softly, in an almost devious tone, "why don't you read off the starting positions dearie?"

A map of the Arena comes to view on the screen behind them, as the profile images of the Tributes shirnk to the sides with arrows point to their starting point.

"And there you have it ladies and gentlemen! The Tributes are set, their Life Points are full, let the Hunger Games...commence! May the odds be ever in your favour Tributes!" Genevieve happily announces.

"We'll be keeping coverage of the Games as they unfold so don't touch that dial!" replies the Game Master with a sinister twinkle in his eye.

Tribute's LP

Each Tribute has their very own "out-of-duel" LP (Life Point) counter, similar to how Yugi and the gang did in the "Virtual World/ Legendary Heroes" arc in season one. Each Tribute begins play in the Hunger Games with 8000 LP. These LP increase and decrease depending on various actions the Tribute performs, such as eating, resting or travelling. Below is a list of actions and the amount of LP they cost or regain.

Action:::LP Cost/Gain
Resting ::: +50 LP for each post after, max 250.
-A Tribute may choose to "REST" between other posts. Each time another Tribute posts in the same Section as theirs, the "RESTING" Tribute gains 50 Life Points, to a maximum of 250 Life Points.

Eating, raw ::: +100 LP, to a maximum of 300 a day.
-A Tribute may eat wild berries or uncooked food such as trail rations or nuts to regain LP but may only do this up to three times in a day

Sleeping, 6+ hours ::: +2000 LP. Limit once per 24 hours.
-A Tribute may choose to sleep for six or more hours a night to recover 2000 Life Points.

Sleeping, 5 or less hours ::: +1000 LP. Limit once per 24 hours.
-A Tribute may choose to sleep for 5 or less hours (minimum 3) to recover 1000 Life Points

Refuse a challenge ::: -1500 LP
-A Tribute can refuse a duel from another Tribute and attempt to flee for 1500 LP.

Travel to new Section ::: -1000 LP per section.
-Whenever a Tribute leaves an area of the Arena to enter another, they lose 1000 LP.

Sustain Injury ::: -500 LP x the Severity Level
-As a survival game, Tributes should anticipate taking personal injury. Different injuries cost more/less LP.
*Ex. Sprained ankle: -500 LP. Break leg: -1500 LP

"What a first day of these Games!" The Game Master proudly exclaims over the televisions, already down two Tributes and one of those was caused by one of the Arena's many snares!"

"Indeed Game Master," Genevieve chimes in, "That labyrinth has some nasty tricks in it."

{Day One draws to a close}

"What a shut out!" The Game Master exclaims, "Linty managed to absolutely annihilate Leon in that match. What a duel."

Genevieve sighed, "And here I had hoped Leon was the victor...how sad."

"Cheer up dearie, ya still have me to gawk at after all," he says cheekily.

"Oh stop you," she laughs, "We're down three Tributes now. Things are getting intense. Now, let's find out what Linty does about the injured girl."

The second day in the Arena is nearing its end. On the sky inside the Arena, a large monitor comes on, allowing everyone within the Arena to see and hear it. As the screen's fade back to the studio where Genevieve and The Game Master sit, something seems off.

Genevieve is laying her head on her arms, sleeping on the desk while The Game Master is leaned back, legs propped on the desk and is flipping a coin repeatedly. He grins to himself and then looks at the camera, "Welcome back ladies and gents. Game Master reporting at the close of day two."

He stands up and with his arms now folded behind his back, begins to slowly walk toward the camera, "We're down three Tributes and things have been far too boring for my taste. So, to make thing more entertaining," he brings one of his hands around and flips his coin again but it never falls again, "I brought in a new face. And by the sounds of it, he's already made a new friend with little Lexie~" he chuckles softly, "Starting tomorrow, Tributes will now have to watch out for newcomers. Let's call them, Eliminators for those of you who remember Duelist Kingdom. Lose to them, and you're slain. Defeat them however, and you get a special prize."

He leans back, posing similar to a car salesman who's showing off a new car, "What kind of prize you ask? That's the beauty of it! Its a secret," he laughs loudly, "Take note that these Eliminators DO abide by the archetype restrictions that you Tributes have all had this whole time, but with a twist. They are each given three," and he holds up three fingers as he speaks, "Forbidden cards. That's right, Forbidden, as in 'tournament illegal' cards. Oh, and on top of the prize for winning against them, I'll let you steal any card from their dueling deck. Even if its not of your archetype or if you already have a copy in the deck."

He slinks over to the desk again and shoves Genevieve off of it. Her body falls to the floor beside the desk, showing the stark white eyes with no pupils or iris's left, "So get to it Tributes, because if you don't actively seek out a match in the next day (3 days for posting) then you'll be met with an untimely end. Tatty-bye!"

The camera cuts

"Heh heh heh," the Game Master laughs as he watches, "Looks like one of my Eliminators has bested a Tribute. Good, good. Only four to go~"

[Khina Bree]

The large screen in the skies of the Arena illuminates the area once again, bringing to full view The Game Master in his studio, sitting on the front of the desk, flipping his coin over and over as a piece of music plays faintly in the background. Genevieve is no longer laying in the floor by the desk, but now there seems to be another individual sitting where she once did. It's impossible to tell who it is, or even their gender due to the hooded coat they wear.

"Well well well," The Game Master speaks up without glancing once at the camera, "It seems little Linty was up to the challenge of my Eliminators. Ah well, Xelon was a decoy anyway." He flips the coin one last time before putting it into his pocket, "Jackson has fallen, and so has Mr. Harker, leaving us with three Tributes: Akkarin, Linty, and Lexie~" he chuckles as he says her name, "One Eliminator currently on the scene, another waiting in the wings if another of you isn't slain in the next twenty-four hours (3 days irl). And, to save you all some trouble...Linty is in the Eternal FOrest, nursing his leg. Akkarin is at the base of the Azure Mountain with my Eliminator, Lixam (Lie-zam) and Little Lexie? She's in the Scarred Desert, currently moving quickly to the Forest by the looks of it."

The hooded figure behind The Game Master begins to tap their fingers on the desk impatiently

"Yes yes, I'll get to you in a minute," he waves his hand at the figure, "Anyway, I bet you're all wondering about those odd cards that get left behind when you slay another Tribute, riiiiiight?" he laughs a bit, "Well, if you want to know what they are, you JUST have to ask....Lixam about it."

He jumps off the desk and stands upright, smoothing his suit out

"I'm sure Lixam will just love to explain...if you can best him anyway. Toodles~"

The Game Master yelps as if startled, then begins to wail.

"Oh no! Poor little Lexie! Cut down in the prime of life~" he feigns a sobbing that slowly turns to laughter,  as a screen behind him shows a close up of a couple holding each other in sorrow. The woman unable to stand or even catch her breath, "Let's all have a moment for the family of little Lexie, shall we?" he pauses for a few seconds and laughs, "That was long enough, buh-bye folks," the screen shuts off behind him, Oh that was brilliant! Glad I chose to sponsor the little bitch."

He slides over to the camera, seeming to grab the lens and angle it better

"So we're down to Akkarin and Linty. Plus Lixam. I'm getting really antsy up here, so I'm going to offer a deal to the two last Tributes..." he pauses and clears his throats, "Surrender your attained 'Tribute Cards' to Lixam, and you BOTH will be declared the winner of this year's Games."

The monitor in the sky continues after Akkarin's match
"Well, Lixam was bound to lose eventually. Oh well. Offer still stands for you little Tributes."

The Game Master's screen illuminates back to life after Akkarin's fall. The man from before who had seemed so maniacal, so devious and sporadic, looked professional and even somber.
"I would like to congratulate this year's winner of the Hunger Games, Linty. Well done sir. Let us all take a moment," he clears his throat, "to remember the fallen.'


A montage comes across the screen, showing a lone figure falling near the entrance of a labyrinth, then of the boy, Enzo being slain by Linty. Next of Leon falling in the forest, and then of Jackson losing to Lixam. It then shows a shot of the desert, where Liam Harker lost to Seeker-Lexie before showing Seeker-Lexie losing to Linty.

"And so, ladies and gentlemen, we conclude this event with one last thing: Linty. You have won the Hunger Games and now, for your prize. You may ask for any one thing, and I will give it to you. What is your desire?"

Linty picks up Akkarin's card, sighing that he couldn't put up a better fight. He then looks up at the GM and listens to what he is saying. "I want ... equality of wealth in District Three. I dueled for the poor and the slaves of the factories. My deck shows. So I want the poor and rich of District 3 to have equal wealth." Linty said.

("Yes. I want communism." -Linty, winner of the HG, and the destroyer of District 3.)

The Game Master' raises an eyebrow for a moment, apparently surprised.
"I hardly expected such a request. If that is what you wish..." he raises his hand and snaps his fingers, causing a loud and colourful puf of smoke around Linty, "So be it. Enjoy your District having absolutely no money whatsoever. Toodles little Linty~"

Linty had a slight grin. "I thought so. You're a twisted man GM." He sighed, knowing that if he returns to his district, he'll be killed. But, he knows District 3. They export the most goods than the other districts.

[Khina Bree]

The face on the screen grins

"Oh, before you can leave..." he adds, "Make sure you leave those six cards you got from the Tributes with Lixam over there."

Linty stares at Lixam. "So ... can I challenge him to a duel?" He asked, holding all the cards he has earned in his hand.

[Khina Bree]

Lixam shakes his head quickly, shocked by the question
"Challenge the Game Master? Ooooh, Linty-boy, you send shivers down my spine~"

He holds out his hand for the cards, "Of course you can challenge him. I don't know how well that will go, but sure. Just hand me those first before you verbally challenge the guy okay?"

[Akaneia]

Linty handed the cards to Lixam, then looked at the sky. "HEY GAME MASTER! I CHALLENGE YOU TO A DUEL! YOU SIT ON YOUR FANCY CHAIR, LOOKING AT THE REST OF US! Now ... what about accepting my challenge? If you're man enough to do so."

[Khina Bree]

The Game Master's face looks quite pleased

"Well, well, well~" he says softly, "Someone finally challenging ME to a game." He chuckles and straightens his tie, "And uh, what are the stakes of this duel, little man?"

[Akaneia]

"I don't know ... return District 3 to its state before you eliminated all of its money, and increasing the wages of the factory workers. For ... I honestly have no idea what someone like you wants. The corpse of Lexie for your personal use?" He said. Then facepalming himself when he brought up the Lexie part.

[Khina Bree]

"How about this: If you win the match, I'll restore the District and increase its wages, blah blah blah," he flashes a toothy grin, "but if I win...I own you. Mind, body and soul. Do we have a deal?"

The green-suited man reaches a hand toward the screen...which manifests THROUGH the giant sky monitor and reaches Linty's reach, inviting him to shake hands on it.

Linty reluctantly accepts the hand shake.

[Khina Bree]

"Well Linty," he brushes his sleeves off, "seems you win. I can't say as I am very surprised. THis game isn't nearly what I'm used to. Thanks for being my first opponent."

Game Master smiles, not in a devious way either, just a smile, and snaps his fingers.
"Your District has its wages again, doubled since before."

"Thanks. Now, how do I return to my district from your ... studio?" He asked. He wonders what the doubled wages will do. Inflaction for sure.

[Khina Bree]

Nodding to a door behind him, the Game Master replies, "Through there. Have a nice life." He sounds almost...bored now. Uncaring and unmotivated, "Meanwhile...I have other business to see to."

He heads the opposite direction from the door, muttering about finding Lixam.
