Pokemon Prism Download

As many of you have probably heard; Pokemon Prism, a ROM hack that has been in development for 8 years, was given a C&D from Nintendo days before it would have been officially uploaded to the public. On 4Chan, I was able to snag a copy of Pokemon Prism and it is fully functional. I'll leave a download link of the copy I snagged for anyone that would like to play it.

It's a good thing it was leaked. 8 years of development and effort did not go completely down the drain from this C&D. Happy Holidays!

My opinion: Sure it sucks that Prism was nailed by a C&D, but they had it coming. They've seen what happened to other Pokemon fan-made games, and they should have expected Nintendo to go after Prism just like the rest of them. Shit like this happens when you mess with a company's IP. It's a shame, I know. But it was obviously going to happen. I'm just looking at it from a legal standpoint: Copyright is a thing, and the makers of the fangame didn't have the right to use the franchise. It isn't "Bullshit".

In the game designer's defense, this was the first time Nintendo C&D a ROM Hack. It's somewhat dense that it seems by this point that Nintendo is picking and choosing what gets allowed. I understand that the designer didn't have the rights to use Nintendo's images and IPs, although Nintendo has not had an issue with other ROM Hacks in the past who also did not have the rights to Nintendo's IP (I can point to literal hundreds of Pokemon hacks and Mario hacks in the past) until now.

I think the issue from Pokemon Prism in particular is that it became really popular from the trailer that was released earlier in the year. I think Nintendo (And all video-game companies that have an issue with their IPs being used) should have some lee-way for fan-designers who appreciate their series as to what is allowed. I think the most optimal scenario is if Nintendo allows ROM Hacks and games that do not make any money to the designer and are free to anyone who wants to download them. If it was not for this leak, it would have resulted in 8 years of work and effort rendered useless.
