Dungeons & Duelists: Upcoming Role-Play

Greetings Guest, Sketch here with an announcement of a new role-play coming up soon! Our 'Yu-Gi-Oh!' themed role-plays have so far done well, so I think it best if we stick to that for the time being, as such I am hosting this newest one: Dungeons & Duelists.

Some of you may have guessed by the punny name that this game will be based on "Dungeons & Dragons" but for those who didn't guess...well uh, it's based on "Dungeons & Dragons." ^_^

The basics of this role-play are as follows:

Players form Adventuring Parties of three to five players. Each player will choose one of the basic classes (barbarian, bard, cleric, druid, fighter, monk, paladin, ranger, rogue, sorcerer or wizard). After choosing your class, you'll select a number of cards based SOLELY on your class. We're not using any custom ban list this time, so no archetypes are forbidden ... however I'll be implementing the "Highlander" rule. For those unfamiliar with this rule, it means that your deck can only have ONE copy of each card it uses. No duplicates.

Each player selects 5 monster cards, 5 spell cards, 5 trap cards and 3 Extra cards (if they wish). These cards act as your repertoire of skills and abilities for adventuring.

Alignments. In D&D, there are 9 alignments. Lawful, Neutral and Chaotic on one axis and then Good, Neutral and Evil on the other. Some classes actually have requirements for alignments such as the paladin or bard. FOr better details, check here [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Races. In this game, we'll have access to the core races of D&D as well. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] has a full list of the races to choose from. (No need to worry about the stats or favoured classes for now)



Now, in this role-play, we'll actually be focusing on a D&D-style story filled with adventuring, dungeon delving, questing, glory and riches, the whole nine yards. Combat scenarios will be played out in duels but this is where it gets interesting~

In combat, each party selects a player of their team to duel. That player then uses ANY of the cards his teammates have with their own and duels with it as a deck.
(Example: Stardog, Linty and Demon have formed a team. Each has 5 each of monsters, spells, and traps. A combat scenario occurs and the group chooses Linty to duel for them. Linty has his 15 cards already but now chooses from the 15 each of his teammates have and makes a deck from it.)

As your team grows in experience, they will gain new levels of power, which will award them with new cards to add to their collections. At basic level, where everyone starts this role-play, there will be restrictions on cards you can have but as you grow, the choices in cards will grow. (Kinda like in most YuGiOh video games.) You'll also accumulate gold which can be used to purchase new cards in shops!

I'm a wee bit disappointed. This is SRD, aka 3.5. No dragonborn on the race list and I do love me some Dragonborn-paladin combination. I'm in, still. Time to go ranger up in this grill. (Oh, and the basic classes are usually only fighter, rogue, wizard, cleric and bard, I believe. But yeah.) Also, 5e master race.
