Weird Glitch in Minecraft

so i decided to go into my secret ice room, beneath the lake, and i noticed all my Snow Golems are gone, but one....

should i keep him in there or dig him out?

its a really good idea, but there's a problem. i can't place signs on ice blocks or half slabs
