Shadow's Tech Tuesday #1
Hey everybody! I decided to start a new segment that I'll continue posting every week called Tech Tuesday, where I discuss an underlooked tech card that could very well be used against the meta with certain strategies, and hear your thoughts on the card!
This week: Neo-Spacian Grand Mole.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Neo-Spacian Grand Mole is an EARTH, Rock-type Effect monster with an underwhelming 900 ATK and 300 DEF. However, this little dude's effect justifies the petty stats that he is burdened with. His effect reads; "If this card attacks or is attacked by an opponent's monster, you can return both monsters to their owners' hands at the start of the Damage Step (Without damage calculation).
Ok, first of all, Linty, a27TheDemonKnight, Stardog and MST_Negates know that this card is my personal favorite tech card of all time. The fact that it spins cards back to the hand is already amazing, but combo that with the fact that it doesn't target, and you have a nifty, recurring out to cards like Kozmo Dark Destroyer and Stellarknight Triverr without really losing anything. You can also use him to harass Performage Pendulum's Xyz monsters constantly, should you choose to use him in that matchup. Grand Mole can be splashed into virtually anything that either A: Doesn't normal summon often or B: Plays a very large Trap lineup. It's also good against certain problem cards like Beelze of the Diabolical Dragons or Number F0: Future King Hope that have built-in protection from destruction.
All in all, I seriously recommend you at least consider this kawaii mole, and add him to your monster lineup if your deck can utilize it.
That's all for this week's Tech Tuesday! Please tell me your thoughts on Neo-Spacian Grand Mole as a card, and as a tech in this current format! Any comments/criticism will be welcomed!

So you're planning to lose your normal summon to return Wallet Destroyer to hand considering that Kozmo have the power to get it back next turn? Nerp.

Gotta agree with Murilo about Destroyer. You don't want to bounce stuff like Destroyer or the Majespecters and let them reuse those effects (same arguement I made with someone about Storming Mirror Force).
Good for those other problem cards you mentioned though

It's like bouncing Raccoon back to hand, you wouldn't do it.

Re: Shadow's Tech Tuesday #1
You can't trust anything these days
Especially because of Pendulums. Lel. They just keep on coming.
Grand Mole as a tech functions more like an assassin. One of then old fashioned method existing even before things like Castel and 101 came along for selective assassination methods. Especially against those who cannot be destroyed.
Grand Mole safe from most of the Trap Holes and could selectively run into non pend extra deck summons without worry to come back again later when needed.
Still suspectable to its effs being negated or being popped or deflected upon attack I guess. Mind Crush gets him rather easily too. Lel.
Used to be the good idea until Pendulums came along I guess. I'd rather rely on traps like Storming Mirror Force abd Compulsory Evacuation Device these days. Maybe in combination with Mind Crush even.
Age hasn't been kind to my favourite Neo Spacian.
Edit: Clearing the field safely for OTK pushes is somewhat still a thing. And Grand Mole can be splashed INTO Pend decks as well.
tl;dr Grand Mole is usually supposed to be used against non-Pend extra deck monsters. To be used in a certain way is what makes it a tech I guess.

On a related note, why is Compulsory Evacuation Device still limited?

And this is why you need to include D.D. Designator banish that bounced card into oblivion.

I always liked Metaion the Timelord more than Grand Mole, especially nowadays with Pendulums. Metaion has protection of destruction cards, it takes no battle damage, bounces ALL the monsters to the hand, and deals burn damage. Although the one down side is that if its effect was used, it gets shuffled into the deck in your next standby phase.

Spinning back cards like Destroyer rather than popping them lets you push in for more damage, and possibly clog their hand. You won't always have a way to summon the Kozmo back, to be totally honest, just like you won't always have certain cards in other decks. Also, Lint has a great point with Metaion, however he returns to the deck after being used. I personally love Mole as a re-usable Compulsory that doesn't target and resists the Trap Hole cards. I respect all of the opinions that have been shared so far.

Kiernan, the thing is that Grand-Mole usually uses your normal summon and is easily destroyed by effects.

Re: Shadow's Tech Tuesday #1
Kiernan is right ive seen no decks even consider playing compulse this format imo it should be at 3 sure bounceing shit like a dante is gr8 but w8 they can just bring out another and the xyz material will just float. On another note let me tell you this bounceing mejespecter to hand is fine sure you go neg 1 but on a brighter not they have no monsters on the field to use their traps and spells which are the bigger threat.

I remember the classic play with Grand Mole. Special summon Cyber Dragon, normal summon Grand Mole. Pretty primitive but it was pretty dandy years ago.

It is way more complex than that.
In a format where cards are avoiding targeting and/or destruction you need to find other ways around.
I would rather bounce a Destroyer to hand then destroy it, letting it float to a different card and then getting recycled back with Kozmotown. By me bouncing it back to the hand rather then destroying it I can give myself a chance to finish the duel rather then having to deal with another possible ship, that will still get to attack that same turn (presuming I destroyed it on opponents turn) it was summoned and be able to float again if destroyed. While by bouncing back Destroyer my opponent has most likely used their normal summon for that turn meaning I have overall more chance to take them out next turn due to not having to get around Destroyer first.
If going against Majespecter if I bounce them back with storming they have most likely use up both the PS and NS (and Majesty if it is on the field) so by bouncing them back I get a lot more safety for my turn since they don't have any Majespecters on the field to tribute for their backrow meaning I can, once again, push for game against them and just gives me a chance to set up a possible field they can't break.
